After I found all the major applications for TV playback, multimedia player and viewers, I still missed some small gadgets. Clock, for example, maybe some small system monitor that would display in nice graphics how much space is left on disks, which folders occupy most space and so on. So I setup one "status" display with just such small gadgets. I used attractive Dali Clock for time display and ETerm for command line access (hey, I'm a geek, remember :) ). A bit less eye-candy, but very configurable Conky was used as system monitor. Your choices may vary on this, so feel free to put on this display whatever you want. If one status display is not big enough to hold all gadgets you need, simply use more of them.
