Choose hardware for Home Theater PC

As expected, building of decent HTPC machine starts with picking the right hardware components. Although this is not supposed to be hardware HTPC guide, I will share some of my hardware thoughts here and try to give you some guidance, most notably on things that merely anybody thinks about when building “common” desktop. After all, we are not building common desktop here, anyway. As we, true geeks, almost always have some religious believes about our favorite hardware manufacturers, I'll try not to advertise any models over another. Of course, I'll note what components were my personal picks, but please do not take it as God-given reference – most of that components are outdated today, newer models are available, and hopefully you have more money to spend and can afford better hardware. So, think of this hardware guide merely as concept and do not stick to referenced models. |
